Creative Research Center for Nanocellulose Future Composites

Research activities

Creative Research Center for Nanocellulose Future Composites (CRC for NCFC) has been established in 2015 funded by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning/National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF), under Creative Research Initiatives program that nurtures unique and creative ideas for delivering fundamental technologies to our industries. This CRC for NCFC also had been successfully completed Creative Research Center for EAPap Actuator sponsored by NRF between 2003 and 2012, which aimed for developing cellulose as smart materials and multi-functional materials. CRC for NCFC aims at developing high strength and eco-friendly future composites that can substitute current carbon fiber reinforced composites, by elaborating nanocellulose long filament and lignin based resins. This center envisions an internationally unique research center that will bring the impact of cellulose based future composite technologies into real world. Researchers and students drawn from a wide spectrum of disciplines are devoting their efforts towards the development and implementation of nanocellulose based composite materials. Since this research is multi-disciplinary area, domestic and international collaboration is essential and welcomed.
